ICTA completes ICT HR Capacity Building Programme with awards ceremony

Marking the successful completion of three projects under the ICT HR Capacity Building Programme the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) held the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Skills Training Awards Ceremony awards yesterday at the Galadhari Hotel.
The three projects which were aimed at enhancing government sector efficiency saw around two thousand government officials being trained from the Colombo District Secretariat, 13 Divisional Secretariats, Registration of Person’s Department (RPD), the Registrar General’s Department, Laksala, the Pensions Department and the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Agrarian Services. About 88 percent passed from Laksala and 94 percent passed from the RPD.
The three modules in the programme comprised of ICT Awareness, ICT Foundation and ICT Certification. Those completing the foundation and certification modules were able to secure internationally recognised qualifications such as eCitizen and the International Computer Driving License (ICDL). The objective of the programme was to make the public sector more competent in computer skills so as to engage in eServices such as eForeign Employment, ePensions and eDivisional Secretariat.
Speaking at the awards ceremony Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister Karu Jayasuriya said that the government has decided to introduce a committee to promote Human Resource (HR) Development in the country. “Technology is a vital aspect to get ahead in one’s career†said Minister Jayasuriya added.
ICTA Programme Director Wasantha Deshapriya noted in his speech that the Sri Lankan community should recognize their efforts and their keenness in this regard. The ICTA also extended its gratitude to Sanath Gamage and MMBL Cyber Skills.
